#115 CRITIQUE – IMAGE ADJUSTMENTS WITH NICK

In this month’s Critique, we looked at Image Adjustments. Seeing how paintings can be improved is one of the fastest ways to learn how to improve your own work. Nick walked us through his thinking as he showed how images can become stronger.

So helpful! 🙏🙏🙏
simplify colors and shapes. I enjoyed seeing all these works. Thanks Nick!! Can’t wait for the retreat!!
A great session. So interesting to see the changes Nick made in everyone’s work – very helpful in understanding the principles more concretely. Especially appreciate that Nick had time to comment on my submission. His adjustment was really helpful in enabling me to see what to do with my conundrums!
This was SO HELPFUL! “Pare it down then amplify what you love!” Amazing to see the differences in paintings once pared down and simplified!! Thanks Nick!!
Hi Nicholas!
So many wonderful critiques! Always love learning and excited to go back to some pieces and be more discerning on what I love and go for it! Thank you and love the Academy!!!!
Nick,
I watched this after the live recording. It was a wonderful critique/image adjustment session! Over the last 2 months, I found myself cropping my painting for the best part and realized exactly what you are teaching in this video. Now on to amplifying my focus item and utilizing larger substrates.
Wonderful, please return with more. I will spread the word.
I would love to see several critiqued with a focus on grouping values. It seems to be the most difficult concept for me to master.
AS ALWAYS LISTTEN…❤️
I had to rewatch this morning to appreciate/ absorb the adjustments made to my submission. While on the call and listening/watching in real time all I heard was it was six paintings. I was able to hear the positive comments upon re-watching. So valuable. Thanks Nick et al.
Helpful visuals as a reminder to pick what I love in my paintings as a focal point; pare it down and amplify that. Use of saturation. Differences.
Here ready to learn from the best
Just watched the recording. Couldn’t make the live session yesterday. Will definitely rewatch. This has been such a great learning tool. My takeaway is to simplify, then amplify what you love. Thanks Nick so much for this insight.
Had to work today so i couldn’t make it live A great critique. Learned so much. Thank you
