Think about the tools you reach for again and again, the ones that just feel right. Each one shapes texture, rhythm, and expression in your work. In this Master Class, Coach Nadine shows how her favorite mark-making tools create movement, depth, and energy in a painting. You will explore how layering and varied marks build interest and guide the viewer’s eye, expanding your visual vocabulary and discovering marks that feel uniquely your own. The Marks We Make: simple tools, infinite possibilities.

Hi Nadine,
Thank you for introducing the variety tools to build interesting surface. It would be great if you would provide the list of tools. 👍😊
Hi Sanae, thank you! They will upload a list of all the tools here today!
This was very interesting and inspiring ! Thank you so much Nadine
I am so glad you enjoyed it, Alina!
Nadine you are an extremely gifted teacher! Thank you for this helpful demo—watching you work is like magic. I’ll watch it again and using your tools and get back to you with questions.
Fab video, Nadine!
Please can you let me know where I can get hold of the following…
– the roller with ridges
Also, your silicone bowl scraper…doe sit have metal inside? I’m looking for a similar product and the ones I see seem to all have a metal insert.
Thanks in advance.
Angie
Hi Angela, I’m thrilled you enjoyed it! The bowl scraper has a metal insert. They will upload a PDF today with all the tools.
Thank you so much!
SO SO FUN! Love watching how you work so freely, and I get why you wear gloves😂👩🎨. Thanks for sharing. The marabou are likely ordered from US I assume? I’ve never found them in 🇨🇦. I am inspired to go play now👏🙏🏻👩🎨
Thanks, Sue! I bought the Marabou from Kensington
Such fun and can’t wait to get to it. Thank you
Fantastic, Nadine. I love all the special tools especially the bowl scraper with grooves of different sizes. All the water-soluble are what I love incorporate as well but used sparingly because of smudging…Now I know how to carefully apply the gloss medium/gel. Most inspired by your “go for it” application of paint and layering. Terrific class. You are so great and Thank You for giving me more confidence to GO FOR IT …and not hold back while always asking those important questions about differences!!
I am so thrilled you loved this, Joan! I can’t wait to see what you do with some of these ideas!
Loved this! I agree with Catherine, though. It would be great to have a list of the products used; I didn’t quite catch the name of the water soluble red lipsticky one you used? It looked so butter and creamy! 😍
Hi Lynn, thank you! They will upload the list of all my materials here today!
Thank you Nadine – all these ‘tricks of the trade’ were so inspiring and helpful!
Thrilled you were inspired, Tracy!
Very informative Nadine! I learned a lot of new mark making tools and especially appreciate you showing how they are integrated into your paintings! thanks!
I am so glad you liked it, Nancy!
I loved this class. (I was hoping you might have a document with the tools listed?) I highly recommend everyone in Art3 life watch this —so MANY ideas!
Thanks, Catherine! The tool list will be uploaded here today!
