ARTIST OF THE WEEK #21
Magdalena (Lena) Bogart
Los Altos, CA
Where would you like to take your work in the future?
Bigger and big, bold, clear and concise, less is more.
Who or what inspires your work?
Shapes, patterns, colors, graphics, fonts, feelings, current events, art shows and travel.
Painters that inspire me: Hundertwasser, Klimt, Picasso, Klee, Miro, Chagall, Max Beckman. And, Nicholas Wilton, of course with his always insightful newsletter telling about himself on the journey – so supportive.
What is the most challenging aspect of your work and the most rewarding?
I am so comfortable with the 12″ x 12″ or 20″ x 20″, and struggling with painting large and clear. I tend to make things too busy. I am worried that “I do not offer enough”. I have two 48″ x 48″ paintings I am not thrilled with. I think I might show them to you all to ask for feedback.
Do you start new work with an idea and a title or do you start and react and then come up with a title?
