Art CRITIQUE #13 ALICE SHERIDAN
LESS CAN BE MORE (Suggested for Stage Five; Flow)
This month’s Art Critique is with Alice Sheridan. Alice came to Nick wanting to know how to go to the next place with her work. She liked what was happening in her sketchbooks, but hasn’t been quite able to translate that to her paintings. Listen in as Nicholas provides some perspective and insight to help her move forward.
In this video you will learn:
– We can find the next direction of our work right within our own work
– Simplifying and reducing the number of areas in our work can make it much more powerful
– When you decrease the amount of activity in your work, along with open space, the activity will look incredible
– Painting larger forces you to get your design working better sooner
– Having only 2, or maybe 3 divisions of space can be exquisitely beautiful and is enough

Wonderful session to watch especially having followed Alice Sheridan now. Loved Nick’s reminder to Play, Use ugly colors, get the Loud conversation going strong like seeing the piece from 3000 feet away.and of course differences! I need to break out from realism, careful painting with too much intention and follow the journey! Thanks for the Critique opportunity.
