ART CRITIQUE #19 HOLLAND HAMMOND

Feb 19, 2018

DISCERNMENT (Suggested for Stage Three; Learning)

Holland Hammond finds herself drawn to simplicity in other’s work and wants to incorporate it into her own. She wanted to know how to use the principles to create work that reduces differences, yet still makes for strong work. Watch and listen to how Nicholas guides her there.

In this video you will learn:

– Instead of showing a lot of differences, show particular differences
– The stakes can be a bit higher because what is noticeable is very noticeable
– Even with simplicity we want our eye to move around
– When you have a few things, ask yourself how can I push these differences more—in size, in value, etc.
– Choose the one thing you want to show, what you want the audience to experience
