#117 MASTER CLASS — FROM STUDIO TO SHOW

May 6, 2026

In this practical Master Class, Coach Marji Thompson walks you through everything that happens between finishing a painting and getting it out into the world. From signing, varnishing, and painting edges to wiring, photographing, titling, and updating your website, Marji covers the full journey with her characteristic warmth and hard-won experience. If you have ever felt uncertain about the steps that come after the painting is done, this class brings it all together in one clear, encouraging guide that makes the process feel completely within reach.

  4. Wow Marjorie really is a pro at these finishing procedures to the paintings and getting everything required just so her experience is invaluable and I admire her patience in going through this important procedure to make the final important steps
One peice of advice about consistency seems very good and could be overlooked but as she explains the reasoning behind it you can see why even measurements for wiring up
The logging of work on website spreadsheets ect was such a good insight
A well worth watch tolerance so much thankyou Marjorie

  5. I wonder if the framing which supports Marjis’ large panels are held in place simply with glue. Great master class.

    • Hi Monique,
I think you are referring to the cradled panels that I use as my substrates. They are both glued and nailed. The nail holes are filled and once painted over, can’t be seen.

  6. Marji, great job on the finishing. I especially enjoyed the details on finishing the edges which is usually an issue for me. You mentioned a Master Class on Canva but I could not find it. Also, what do you recommend on shipping. I have my first gallery show in NYC and need to ship my painting.

    • Hi Kate,

Congratulations on your first gallery show! I use Pirate Ship which is an online 3rd party supplier of UPS shipping labels. I have had great success with them for paintings that are under the UPS size restrictions. Depending on the size you are shipping, they may be considerable savings for you.
