#102 CRITIQUE – ONE-ON-ONE WITH LOU OAKES
![Critique 102 ONE-ON-ONE W LOU OAKES (Nick) [release1]](https://art2lifeacademy.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/Critique-102-ONE-ON-ONE-W-LOU-OAKES-Nick-release1.jpg)
How do you pivot from one medium to another while maintaining a similar playful mindset in both? In this One-on-One critique, Nick will be joined by Rev Lou Oakes to tackle this common challenge. Lou’s artistic practice focuses on paintings and artistic books. She’s noticing an energy shift from one to the other, resulting in less satisfying work. Together, Nick and Lou will address this problem to find a way to move forward. Oftentimes, there’s a takeaway we can all benefit from.

A wonderful conversation that I totally identify with. I am also a bookmaker and enrolled in CVP for the second time. There is a huge difference about how I feel making book pages and the pressure of creating a board or canvas. Huge difference.
Thank you for sharing your feelings and ways to help the process.😊❤️
I really enjoyed this discussion so much. The idea that we have to show ourself, become more of who we are and grow into that to move our art further on is wonderful I know that I generally don’t really show who I am and what I believe in and what I love either in my life or in my art and I am at the stage where I really care about doing that.
Thank you both.
I Absolutely Loved this, resonated deeply with me!!! ❤️
Thank you, Lou and Nick 🙌
thank you both for this found it so helpful beautiful work and inspirational
your books are SO interesting.. WOW just fascinating.. this is definitely the path to follow imho. could you not do a triptych of double sided pages behind perspex.. they would look incredible so the books can be seen?
Thank you Rev Lou and Nick for a wonderful discussion. Not only is your work free and personal and beautiful but your way of holding the world is a total inspiration, Lou. I’m grateful for the ways our art paths have crossed, and always look forward to hearing your point of view. Your perspective encourages me/us onward. Thank you, thank you!
